Friday, February 19th, 2010

. . . . .

We’re celebrating our second annual Wedding Book Week. This week we featured a book a day and not just with wedding day pictures. We showed a book about a couple’s love story, a book of honeymoon pictures, and of course some lovely books of the big day. And today you finally see my own wedding book!

Enjoy, and contact us to get a quote for your own custom wedding book.

NEXT WEEK! I have another fun post for you Monday. It’s a DIY book project that makes a great little gift. Come visit again Monday!

book #5, steven + kim (finally!)

Yay! Our wedding book is finished, and I’d like to thank Wedding Book Week for making it happen. Seriously. Deadlines are the best.

So here it is…Steven and I got married 7.7.07 up in an amazing little town on Vancouver Island in Canada called Tofino (my favorite place ever – go if you can). Our story was a central part of the wedding, so of course we included it in the book. In a nutshell: we met on a blind date after college, dated for 2 years, broke up for 8, then got back together and got married in the same year. We took our own sweet time, thus our wedding theme and book title…Steven and Kim Finally!

I always knew we’d want to include more than just wedding day photographer pictures in our book. We used a great local photographer named Jeremy Koreski who is mostly known for his surfing images, and we totally love the images he took of our wedding. But our book also includes our story, a few pictures from what we call Round 1, some quotes from friends/family/us over the years that tell the progression of our story, pictures from our wedding week, and even pictures from our honeymoon. It’s our story.

Our reception was on the beach, so for our book I used a linen that reminds me of the sand, with a photo of one of our Steven and Kim Finally signs.

book #3, matthew + jennifer’s honeymoon

Jennifer’s first anniversary gift to her husband – an avid photographer – was this lovely book of their honeymoon trip. While they cruised the Mediterranean, Matthew captured some great images that Jennifer wanted to compile in one place.

For the design we interspersed the photos with dates and locations so you can track their itinerary. We also included special mementos like wine labels, tickets, and maps. We used a dark blue leather trimmed to the edges with blind stamping for the cover – a classic meets modern feel.

book #2, tara + brad

Tara and Brad selected our biggest style of wedding book. It is 10×13 and has a beautiful, substantial feel to it. The grey leather we used is my new favorite – so beautiful – and works perfectly with the light grey stamping. Inside the book we added special touches like Tara and Brad’s personalized vows, a lovely toast given by a dear friend, and a monogram design they had incorporated into their printed pieces.

wedding book week

With love still in the air, we’ve decided it’s a perfect time for our second annual Wedding Book Week. Plus, I’ll just be honest, I needed a really good excuse to finish my own wedding book. (!) Yes, it’s finally finished and I can’t wait to share it with you. But I’m getting ahead of myself, that is Friday’s post.

This week you’ll see a book a day and not just with wedding day pictures. We have a book about a couple’s love story, a book of honeymoon pictures, and of course some lovely books of the big day.

book #1, lindsay + campbell, a love story

Lindsay made this book about their love story to give Campbell on their wedding day. It is so sweet. She chronicled each of their journeys to NYC…Campbell from his Australian homeland, and Lindsay from San Francisco. In New York they met and fell in love, and during their courtship wrote each other the sweetest little post-it notes and text messages that of course made their way into the book. We used a moleskine style, so it feels like a journal of their love story. She titled it A Love Story of the American and Australian Kind.

We’re excited to show you not only the book photos, but also some wedding day photos of Lindsay giving the book to Campbell. Thanks, Lindsay!

I totally love this wedding book. I love that Megan chose bold colors – black, white, red – for her wedding and I also loved the silhouettes she used for the invitations, programs, etc. We incorporated both into her book, and I think it worked perfectly.

book #5 – and a bonus #6! – wedding book week

Friday, February 13th, 2009

. . . . .
This week is Wedding Book Week at Good Stock – I’m showcasing a wedding book a day. Enjoy!
. . . . .

Today you get 2 books to close out wedding week. They are both very different but equally beautiful.

#5 – Megan & Jason
Talk about Fun. Spunky. Adorable. This couple is all of the above. Check out this book.

We used a board book style, so the pages are thicker.

Look at these fun initials for the endsheets!

Megan and I debated the best way to handle this proposal page and finally decided speech bubbles were it. I love this page…and this proposal moment!

You go girl. Look at her get down!

Find more pictures of the M&J book here.

#6 – Tom & Aimee
And now from the totally fun to the totally elegant. Here is Tom and Aimee’s wedding book, by the very talented Boulder photographer James Christianson.

For the binding we used a brown leather with brown stamping, and hand-deckled the edges for a more vintage/rustic feel.

You’ll notice all of the images are sepia tone, with a very simplistic layout. I think this gives the book a beautiful feel.

Find more photos of Tom & Aimee’s book here.

And there you go! I hope you’ve loved wedding book week. It’s been so fun sharing these projects, and I will continue to share more wedding books as we make them. Get in touch if you’re ready to start your wedding book.

In the meantime, in the spirit of love and marriage, I’ll post a beautiful 50th anniversary book on Monday afternoon! I hope you check back then. Happy Valentines Day everyone!

book #4, wedding book week

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

This week is Wedding Book Week at Good Stock – I’m showcasing a wedding book a day. Enjoy!

Today’s book will inspire those with wedding photos lingering in a dusty box somewhere!

After 9 years of marriage and 2 kids, Kindra decided it was finally time to make her wedding book. So it seems fitting to start today’s post with a before/after.

BEFORE – what Kindra sent me

AFTER – what I sent Kindra…today!

An improvement, yes? Let me show you more…

Kindra wanted the book to be nice but not fancy, a reflection of a beautiful and fun affair. She sent me a copy of the wedding invitation which was simple and elegant. I mimicked the invitation design treatment for this first spread of the book, which is the only page with text on it.

Here are a few shots from the book, starting with the pre-ceremony party on the lawn.

I love this shot of Kindra and Glenn clasping hands.

And this final shot of Kindra rockin’ it with the band!

You can see more photos on Flickr!

Let me know if you’ve got a stack of wedding negatives, photos, or a CD of images lying around. I’d love to turn them into your wedding book!

book #3, wedding book week

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

OK, today you get a totally different style of wedding book.

Think hip/edgy/Brooklyn. That’s the design direction I received for J+J’s wedding book. I think you’ll agree it has a great modern feel to it.

The best part about this book (you are all about to be very jealous) is that it was a SURPRISE GIFT from the brother-in-law (who took all the photos himself!) to the bride and groom. Can you imagine? A meaningful, personal wedding book they didn’t have to lift a finger to put together. I would be blown away. And from what I have learned, this adored couple deserves to be blown away. The things people wrote about them were incredible….but I’m getting ahead of myself.

For the cover I used a type of black paper that has a protective coating and stamps beautifully. We did black on black and I love it.

For the endsheets I used a photo from the ceremony – the moment right after their vows as they hugged each other. The wedding took place in a restaurant with a beautiful mural that had great red color, so I used red throughout the book.

The book begins with images from the rehearsal dinner.

I love this shot of Central Park – the view from the hotel room the morning of the wedding.

Here is an example of the “red pages” where we used the personal notes people wrote at the wedding about the couple. People wrote the most heartfelt, sincere, amazing things. And we included each comment on these striking red pages interspersed throughout the book.

And finally, some shots from the ceremony and reception.

A truly beautiful celebration.
