Here’s one of my favorite images from a wedding book I’m working on today. Something about that little coat – so fun and sassy.

I love this cover for an accordion book we did today. The muslin and quilt are simply lovely.

. . . . .

Still not sure what type of book to gift?

There is another gift idea we will happily offer. You can give someone the gift of working with us to create their own custom book.

This might be the best option if someone else in the family is really into telling family stories, documenting their life, and pulling together family photos.

Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss this gift.

I hope you’ve enjoyed gift week, thank you for reading!

And gift idea #5…2010 Custom Moleskine Journal!

We have to confess we’re sort of saving the best for last. There are so many applications for this 2010 journal…photos of a couple, photos of a new baby, old family photos, inspirational quotes, etc.

For this one we used tidbits from my nephew and niece, Jake and Quinn. We used their artwork, quotes, stories, and photos. It will make a great gift for their grandparents and other family members…and my sister-in-law plans to keep one in their own home for the whole family to jot down thoughts (or drawings!) in the new year.

As always, my favorite are the quotes…they are priceless. Especially Jake’s. The kid is a crack up.

Get in touch if you’d like to start your 2010 journal!

Here’s idea #4…A Family or Life Photo Album!

This gift can either be for one person or a whole family, and it is such an amazing gift.

To illustrate, we have some before and after shots for you. Everyone loves a good before and after shot!

Before: You have boxes of old family albums and photos in an attic, closet, or storage area somewhere. Yes, we all have them!

After: You turn them into a beautiful coffee table book that can be enjoyed daily by your whole family!

Here’s how: Don’t even think about using all the pictures in those boxes and old albums. The key here is selecting the best ones. First, decide if the book is about one person’s life or the whole family. Then decide how many images you want to use – 75 images is a good place to start – and put them together in chronological order. Then mail them to us. We’ll scan the pictures and design your book!

And you will be giving the gift of a lifetime. Now don’t you want to get started?

Email me if you’re interested!

gift book week! idea #3, family tree folios

Here’s idea #3…Family Tree Folios!

OK, while these aren’t technically books we simply love these family tree folios, and think they make great and easy gifts. We have two styles – one for adults, and one for kids.

The adult family tree contains 5 generations, along with photos. It is such an elegant way to display ancestry information. Here’s the one I did for my own grandmother!

child’s family tree is just sweet. It includes 4 generations, and comes in a yellow paper folio with red baker’s twine and a personalized dedication to the child.

Aaron Brothers and probably other framing shops, too.

here, or email us to start an adult family tree!

gift book week! idea #2, christmas memory books

So here’s idea #2…Christmas Memory Books!

Growing up in our family, every Christmas we took a Santa picture and a Christmas Card picture. And let me tell you, there are some gems in there (think braces, tears, bad sweaters, etc). This year I’m compiling these into companion books as gifts for my own family. And I must admit, I’m selfishly doing it because I want to enjoy them in our own home during the holidays, too!

If you have similar traditions and a pile of Christmas or holiday memory photos lying around, here are 2 books to inspire you. The first uses Santa pictures in our accordion book style, and the second features Christmas Card photos in a custom book style, with captions next to each year which adds such a nice touch.

gift book week! idea #1, a family cookbook

. . . . .

Believe it or not, the holidays are approaching! And not surprisingly, we think custom books make great gifts.

So to inspire you, we’re showcasing a different book idea each day this week on our blog. We hope you’ll find a perfect gift idea here and get in touch. There’s still time to make your custom book for the holidays!

So here is our first idea for you…a family cookbook!

Last Christmas, this was Ali’s gift to her dear Italian grandmother. She gathered her grandmother’s recipes, along with photos, cooking tips from Gram, and inspiring cooking quotes and called it Gram’s Kitchen. Her Gram loved it so much she ordered copies for everyone!

I especially love the tribute page where Ali thanks her Gram and all the pioneering, strong women of her family.

These 1960’s prom programs are going in a life history book we’re working on right now. I totally love them. The colors, the typefaces, the ample white space, the yellowed paper. So simple but beautiful.
